The North Houston Association was founded in September, 1982, by twenty-six firms who became charter members and believed that collectively they could influence both the quantity and quality of the development in the North Harris and South Montgomery areas to benefit the entire community. The North Houston Association was patterned after the West Houston Association, which had been formed in the late 1970s.

The members of the North Houston Association are committed to enhancing the quality and quantity growth of the area and believe that their future and successes are tied to strengthening the elements which make North Harris and South Montgomery a better place to live, work, and prosper.

In order to serve its members, the Board of Directors established a series of committees to work on specific areas of community concern. These committees include Aviation, Education, Environment, Government Affairs, Image, Research, and Transportation.
