The Second Annual North Houston Association’s golf tournament exceeded all expectations. “Our goal was to net $13,000 in this year’s tournament, and we surpassed our goal by $4,000,” said Marlisa Stanley. executive director. “This nearly doubles the amount of funds raised in 1995.” The 1996 tournament raised more than $17,000 to benefit the programs and projects of the North Houston Association (NHA).

“All the credit goes to our sponsors and committee members for taking an active part in this year’s event,” said Stanley. The winner of the tournament was Turner Construction Company. Second place went to JNS Consulting Engineers. Inc. Tied for third place was LJA land Development. Engineering & Surveying and Star Enterprise. Harris County Commissioner Jerry Eversole and Montgomery County Judge Alan Sadler were the tournament’s honorary cochairmen and took an active role on the course and in the program.

Other public officials present on the course included Senator Elect and NH A President Jon Lindsay, Harris County Judge Robert Eckels and City of Houston Council Members Orlando Sanchez and Martha Wong. The tournament also had its first silver underwriter, Compaq Computer Corporation. Compaq generously donated funds to assist in underwriting the basic tournament costs.
