Lone Star College System 
Lone Star College System has distinguished
itself as one of the finest community college districts in the
country, offering a wide range of academic and occupational courses
for recent high school graduates and community residents of all
ages. Since 1973, when North Harris College opened its doors,
the college district service area has grown to 1,400 square miles.
Among the largest community college districts in Texas, Lone Star College
comprises North Harris College, Kingwood College, Tomball College,
Montgomery College, seven satellite centers and The University
Center. Over 35,000 credit students enroll each semester, with
15,000 more in continuing education, workforce development and
customized training. Cy-Fair College, the fifth comprehensive
community college in the district, is expected to open in fall
2003.
Lone Star College continues to be a benchmark for its innovative programs,
highly skilled faculty and student-centered learning environments.
Students attend the district’s college for diverse reasons:
to obtain an associate’s degree or certificate; to transfer
to a university; to gain new job skills; to change careers, or
to improve their lives. The five NHMCCD colleges and seven satellite
centers are accessible to all students in the college district’s
neighborhoods to deliver quality education close to home.

Our Lady of the Lake University has offered bachelor’s and
master’s degree programs in Houston since 1986. Currently,
the University operates three Houston campuses. These are located
at North Harris College, the Cy-Fair College Fairbanks Center,
and one near the Galleria. Most classes meet every other weekend,
allowing adult students to earn a degree while working full-time.
Undergraduate majors include management, organizational leadership,
psychology and other behavioral sciences, fine arts and an interdisciplinary
major in liberal arts. Graduate degrees include MBA, the MBA/Healthcare
Management, and the MS in Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy),
an interdisciplinary MA in Human Sciences, and the online Med
which includes certification as a Master Technology Teacher (MTT).
Established in 1895, Our Lady of the Lake University is an accredited,
independent university with campuses in Houston, San Antonio and
Dallas. The Houston campus enrolls approximately 500 students
per term and scholarships are available to new applicants.

University of Houston - North Houston Institute
Located at 250 N. Sam
Houston Parkway East, the Institute offers upper division classes
and graduate courses. Graduate level emphasis includes computer
science, civil engineering and electrical engineering. English,
history and business are particular strengths of the junior and
senior-level programs.
