Jack Drake
Secretary
Jack Drake is president of the Greenspoint District. It was created by
the State Legislature in 1991, at the request of commercial property
owners and is funded through their assessments to provide services and
improvements to ensure Greenspoint’s growth and prosperity.
The management district also originated and provides planning and
marketing services for the Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment
Authority (TIRZ), a partnership with the City of Houston, Harris County, Aldine ISD, Spring ISD, and Lone Star College System. The Authority
funds parks, street and bridge construction, landscaping, streetscape,
and public plazas and art and is investing millions in capital projects in
Greenspoint.
Previously, Jack served as assistant to Mayor Kathy Whitmire (Houston’s
Mayor from 1982-1992), where he recruited department heads and
managed the Mayor’s support staff for the first four years of her
administration.
Prior to joining the District, he was executive director of the March of
Dimes Birth Defects Foundation for southeast Texas. Jack holds degrees
in business (BBA) and law (Juris Doctor) from the University of Oklahoma, his native state. He moved to
Houston in 1969, after service in the United States Navy.
